As one of the most iconic human structures in the world, the Chinese Wall attracts millions of visitors annually from around the world. Built in northern China, it is an engineering pride in the construction of massive and fortified buildings. Initially, the wall was built to protect the Chinese territories against the nomadic tribes. It was also used as a warehouse for merchants crossing the Silk Road to secure their goods.
This massive structure has a rich and long history of two thousand years. So there’s a lot of reading about this wall. Millions of workers unpacked the bricks on the winding land. In fact, nearly 70 percent of the Chinese people helped build the wall during the Shin dynasty.
This wall is not completely continuous.
The name of the Chinese Wall conveys the feeling that we are talking about a continuous building, but it is not! In fact, what we refer to as the wall is a defense mechanism built by different dynasties, meaning that it is not entirely made up of parallel walls, and in some areas it is part of natural pits and obstacles such as rivers and hills. .
What we see today is the refreshing part.
The construction of the wall began around the seventh century BC with several states in China. Shin Shi Huang, the first Chinese emperor to integrate this continuous wall during his reign, but the original wall was almost destroyed over time. Half of this wall was built by the Ming dynasty from 21686 to 1344 between 1668 and 1644. The reason for its construction was to resist the Mongol invasion in the north.
Officially, the Ming dynasty was responsible for 88850 kilometers of this magnificent monument. That’s 6259 kilometers of walls that tourists visit today. Places such as Badaling, Moniatiu and Jin Shan Lin, which are close to Beijing and well protected, attract millions of people annually. The ancient Munianto was built in the Ming era, while Badaling and Jin Shan Lin were built in the sixteenth century. All of these tourist areas are carefully protected for visitors. Badaling is for official visits, for example, when US President Richard Niskon visited it on a historic visit to China in 1972.
Part of the wall has been lost over time.
The length of the Great Wall of China is about half that of the 15 different regions. It is very difficult to imagine such a huge building, and unfortunately there is this problem for the Chinese wall. Approximately 30% of the building built by the Ming was completely destroyed and abandoned over time. A 2014 report by the Great Wall of China shows that only 10 percent of monuments are in desirable condition. However, 74% of them are in poor condition.
Unfortunately, only natural factors were not incompatible with this wall, and human factor played a major role in this negative effect. Sometimes, in the more regulated areas, this destruction is prevented by stopping the growth of urban construction. Unfortunately, there is also a black market for wall bricks and tourists have to be aware of the theft in this precious place. Government agencies are advising the government to take extra care of this place. They say things like education and subsidy allocation can tackle these problems.
